The Festival was organized again this year by the Cultural Association – Dance Department of Souli Patras and was held during the four days of July 25-28, 2024.
In addition to the Cultural Association of Souli, dances from other local Associations, as well as from other parts of Greece, took part, which with their pulse and vitality, excited the large audience who applauded all the events and dances. The tradition of our country, the nobility, the Greek Levantia, the culture, our roots, our ancestral heritage came to life in Souli.
His Eminence, congratulated the President of the Souli Cultural Association of Patras, Mr. Constantinos Harmantas and his colleagues, the Dance Teachers, the Dance Departments, the hundreds of children who participated, the Parents, the President of the Local Council, the Director and the Teachers of Souli Primary School, and all the residents of the village, who have embraced these wonderful and moving events.
“…Tonight in Souli of Patras, Greece breathes a sigh of relief…”, said, among others, His Holiness. “You are descendants of the old, heroic Souliots, who gave their blood for the freedom of Greece. Nothing different could happen to you, the residents of Neos Soulis of Patras. Your blood flows in your veins, Orthodox and Greek. These events affirm our fighting and resistance mentality, against what lies, alien to our tradition and destructive for our country, comes to alter the mentality and the inner world of our children.
Continue to fight consistently, as until now, to save the honor and value of man, ethics and morals, our saving tradition, which watered by the threads of our Greek Christian tradition, must be watered
as an iron river the field of the future.
Keep, as long as you can, our faith and culture. We owe it to our children, who are the golden hope for the future of our Country.
… Keep Greece alive. Thank you for what you do for our country, for our Greece…”.
His Eminence also emphasized the need for everyone’s cooperation and unity, so that under the grace of God and the blessing of the Church, we emerge victorious from the fight against the decline of values and institutions and the corruption that characterizes our society and our world.
At the end, the Hierarch was invited by the President of the Souli Cultural Association to present an honorary plaque to the former Principal of the Primary School, Mr. Ilias Gotsopoulos, and to the current Principal, Mrs. Iota Papanikolaou.
