The heavy rain that has fallen since Sunday in the Arzobispo Chacón municipality has caused the El Rincón stream to rise, affecting several homes and commercial premises located in the El Puente sector since the early hours of Tuesday, July 23, forcing families to evacuate their homes to avoid risking their lives, given the large amount of sediment that flooded homes and streets, in an attempt to save some belongings.

It was also learned that Canaguá has been without electricity since Monday afternoon, making communications difficult.

Canaguá only has one backhoe from the Municipality, since according to Mayor Omar Fernández, the machine sent by the Government to dredge the ravine, which just arrived on Saturday, was damaged again without completing the work.

The priest Cornelio Marín, parish priest of Canaguá, asked the authorities to focus on helping the residents in this unfortunate situation, and he also hopes that the people of Merida can help the families who have lost their belongings.
