STUDENTS of the real work lecture-community empowerment learning (KKN-PPM) Mercu Buana University Yogyakarta (UMBY) Batch XLV Unit 35 carried out a work program in Nogosari Hamlet, Dadapayu Village, Semanu District, Gunungkidul, DI Yogyakarta.

The UMBY students’ KKN-PPM program with the theme of Cultural Memetry, Artistic Art focuses on special funds and arts management at the Jathilan Turonggo Mudho Timbul Rahayu Arts Association, as well as the Nogosari Hamlet apparatus.

The activity presented two competent speakers, namely Agus Sri Winarno, Head of the Kundha Kabudayan Planning Sub-Division of Gunungkidul Regency, and Kristian Apriyanta, founder of the Pasinaon Seni Omah Wayang Klaten Garden.

In his presentation, Agus Sri Winarno explained about the special funds, which are an allocation from the APBN to support special authorities in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, including in the cultural sector.

“These special funds are used for things like developing cultural villages, preserving cultural heritage, and improving the welfare of local communities,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Kristian Apriyanta delivered material on art management based on his experience at Kebon Pasinaon Seni Omah Wayang. In this case, he emphasized the importance of managing traditional art resources effectively, from development to marketing of artworks.

In front of the Nogosari Hamlet community and UMBY students, Kristian also discussed strategies to involve the community, as well as improve
appreciation of traditional arts which play an important role in maintaining the sustainability of local culture.

The socialization activity, said Tiyo, a UMBY student, received a positive response from the local community, especially members of the arts association who were enthusiastic about the information and strategies presented by the resource person.

“They hope that the knowledge gained will be useful and can help in developing and maintaining traditional arts,
“like jathilan which is a regional cultural identity,” he added, Thursday (1/8).

The UMBY KKN-PPM work program is part of a collaborative effort between students, local government, and local communities to
preserving culture, as well as developing the potential of art as a source of economic welfare for Gunungkidul. (H-2)
