Mercy Brothers Kritzendorf care facility

More than 100 years of experience in the care and support of older people, as well as a house newly built in 2019 with brightly designed residential units, private terraces and spacious parks. This is what sets the Kritzendorf Brothers of Mercy apart.

In 2019, a forward-looking and modern house was built on the site at Kritzendorfer Hauptstraße 20, designed by architect Christoph Lechner & Partner ZT GmbH, which is entirely geared towards the needs of the residents. To mark the 100th anniversary of the Kritzendorf Convent, the residents moved into the new house.

The concept for “everyday-oriented residential group models” initiated by the state of Lower Austria has been implemented in the new building, which offers people in need of care in inpatient care and support facilities a living environment that meets their needs. This means that the individual needs of the people being cared for can be addressed even more specifically.

The building consists of five standard floors, each with 3 care groups with 14 beds and a residential group with 5 beds. In total there are 210 nursing and 30 residential beds. Each care group has a spacious lounge area with a tea kitchen and a large balcony.

The main entrance is on the ground floor between the old building and the new house. The foyer contains the reception, cafeteria, event area, elevators and access to the courtyard garden. The rooms on the ground floor are accessed via a gallery corridor along the inner courtyard to the hairdresser, occupational and physical therapy, the chapel and the old building in which the administration and service apartments are located.

In summer the courtyard garden can be used as a festival area. The center is left free for activity, with benches positioned in shady areas around the edges. A fountain serves as an attraction. Another highlight is the viewing point on the so-called Augensteg. From here you have a beautiful view over the Danube meadows.
