For many merchants, sales are an opportunity to do good business. However, some categorically refuse to comply with this custom.
In many stores, the sales period is a good time to find items with discounted prices. However, some traders refuse to sell off their items. “I stopped this completely delusional system which, in addition to that, in my opinion, misleads the consumer because he no longer knows how to navigate it, he no longer knows what the real reference price is“, explains Charlie Brauer, trader in Deauville, on BFMTV.
Despite this absence of sales and prices that remain the same, the merchant manages to maintain a good figure in his store. “We make figures that are more important than people who are nevertheless big brands and who sell“, says Charlie Brauer.

For their part, customers have adapted and seem rather happy with the merchant’s approach. “They make consistent prices all year round on quality products that are quite rare. They’re right“, assures a customer.
Other brands prefer to offer reductions that are smoothed over a whole year rather than doing so over a given period. “We are not trying to push the consumer to over-consume over a short period“, explains Bastien Valensi, founder of Cabaïa.
Several reasons for not practicing sales
For some merchants, refusing to practice sales is also a way of encouraging customers to consume in an eco-responsible way. Others are justified by an ecological reason since before the sales, some brands have many items made to fill their collections. Also, for some merchants, selling items also means taking the risk of having lower margins on the products they sell.
