The murder of Mercedes Losoya has caused a stir in the United States. The 5-year-old girl was brutally tortured at the hands of her mother and her partner for weeks; which led to her being rushed to the hospital, but she was unable to survive the multiple injuries all over her body.

The minor was treated immediately, but did not survive, despite the efforts of the medical team.

After the autopsy, the authorities arrested Ruiz on Tuesday and two days later Mendoza was found. Both will be prosecuted for the crime.

In her first statements, the minor’s mother indicated that the mistreatment and torture began three weeks before her death. She revealed that she asked her partner for help to “correct” her daughter and the beatings became more and more violent.
In one of these “acts of discipline” Ruiz picked up dog feces and put it by force in the girl’s mouth, while yelling at her. On another occasion, he soaked a stocking in urine and forced her to put it in her mouth.
When he pulled out the stocking, he did it with such violence that he knocked out two of his teeth.
The blows were also carried out with a leather belt or, on some occasions, he used his hands, on which he wore rings.

The couple is accused of “serious injuries”, although the charges might change as the investigation progresses.
