Mercedes F1 driver ‘happy’ to be on podium

Lewis Hamilton finished second in the United States Grand Prix following a race that saw him attempt a strategic shift that didn’t pay off. The Mercedes F1 driver was, however, able to attack at the end of the race to get back on Max Verstappen, in vain.
“First of all, we have to congratulate them, they did an incredible job throughout the year, they dominated and Max made no mistakes. We caught them at the end but we would have needed several more laps ” Hamilton said.
“The team did an incredible job this weekend, there was a lot of work to bring the developments here. It was very hard following the last race, first of all with what is happening in the world, and also with the big mistake I had made.”
“I let the team down [au Qatar], and I needed to go back into a deep process to get back in the right spirit and come back here. I fought hard and I’m really happy with this result.”
Hamilton greeted the Austin crowd, and appreciates feeling the support of the American fans: “I love the United States, since I was a kid, I have always felt welcome and I am happy with the support I have. “
