Mercedes-Benz reports strong growth in new energy vehicle sales in China during 2023

BEIJING, Jan. 14, 2024 (Xinhua) – German automaker Mercedes-Benz said last Thursday that it delivered regarding 765,000 vehicles to customers in China over the past year, as the annual delivery volume of pure electric models more than doubled.

The company added in a press release that the company’s array of high-end luxury products maintained rapid growth, with the Mercedes-Maybach and G-Class models achieving annual growth of 21 percent and 22 percent, respectively.

In order to enhance the e-mobility experience for Chinese consumers, Mercedes-Benz supercharging stations have been put into operation in the cities of Chengdu, Foshan, Qingdao, Chongqing, Kunming, Wuhan, Suzhou and Changzhou, with the company’s public charging service currently covering nearly 590,000 public charging beds in more than 340 cities across the country. Oliver Bretz, Executive Vice President of Sales at Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Services Co., Ltd., said that Mercedes-Benz will bring more than 15 new models to Chinese customers during the current year, covering multiple driving models and multiple product matrices.
