JOURNALISTS from the commercial vehicle industry from 24 European countries have chosen the battery-powered Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 to receive the “International Truck of the Year 2025” award, the most prestigious award in the commercial vehicle industry.
The jury appreciated the overall innovative technological concept of the long-haul heavy-duty truck. The truck with modern drive technology is considered to have high energy efficiency and is capable of traveling 500 kilometers without intermediate charging.
This was proven in the eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024 program. It is an electric development and testing tour program of more than 15,000 kilometers through a total of 22 countries, carrying a gross combination mass of 40 tons.
At various daily stages of the journey, the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks theoretically enable a range of more than 600 kilometers without intermediate charging. Along the route, the two long-haul trucks also tried out charging exclusively at public charging points. The aim was to prove their sustainability with the readiness of the ecosystem.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks CEO Karin Rådström received the award at the IAA Transportation 2024 event in Hanover, Germany, from International Truck of the Year (ITotY) Jury Chairman Gianenrico Griffini.
“From the start, Mercedes-Benz Trucks designed the eActros 600 as an electric truck. The result is a sophisticated battery-electric vehicle that is adept at a wide range of long-distance applications,” said Gianenrico Griffini in his statement, Thursday (19/9).

Karin Rådström said that her team was proud and happy that the jury had chosen the eActros 600 as the International Truck of the Year 2025.
“Almost all members of the jury have spent time behind the wheel, testing the eActros 600 on roads across Europe so they have had the opportunity to experience first-hand the capabilities of this truck. Today is a proud day for all the teams who have worked hard in recent years to make this truck a market leader,” he said.
According to the jury’s rules, this title is awarded annually to the truck that has made the greatest contribution to road transport innovation in terms of efficiency, emissions, safety, vehicle dynamics and comfort.

Since the introduction of the International Truck of the Year award in 1977, Mercedes-Benz Trucks has now won the title ten times. This year, Mercedes-Benz Trucks also impressed the jury for the first time with a battery-electric vehicle.
Many ITotY journalists who took part in the eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024 program by Mercedes-Benz Trucks praised the advanced aerodynamics of the new ProCabin driver’s cabin.
Better aerodynamics are essential for long-distance transport of battery-electric trucks, as air resistance is one of the main factors affecting energy consumption. In addition, more energy can also be recovered due to reduced air resistance, which ultimately results in longer driving ranges.

Performa powertrain The maximum, smooth acceleration and vibration-free steering area with various new features were also positively assessed by ITotY journalists.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks has developed a new electric axle, designed for 800 volts with two electric motors and a four-speed transmission, specifically for use in long-distance haulage. The electric motors deliver a continuous power output of 400 kW, and a peak output of 600 kW.
In addition, the eActros 600 is equipped with the Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) and transmission control system, which are explicitly tailored to electric drive. Predictive Powertrain Control automatically takes into account topography, road layout and traffic signs to achieve the most efficient driving style. (H-2)
