Mercedes Benz | An electric Sprinter marketed this year

The German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz confirmed last week its intention to offer on the Canadian market an electric version of its eSprinter van.

This addition to the range will allow the eSprinter to become the first direct rival of the electric Ford Transit. To do this, the brand with the star will equip it with a much higher capacity battery of 113 kWh, compared to 68 kWh for the Transit. The introduction will be through the elongated livery topped with the raised roof.

According to the preliminary figures, this eSprinter will have an average autonomy of 400 km in the European measurement cycle (WLTP), a figure from which we should subtract a few tens of kilometers to have a more precise portrait. Note that the electric Transit can only travel 180 km with a high-roof configuration. The Mercedes-Benz van will only be offered with a rear engine with a power of 136 hp or 204 hp, as desired.

Note that charging can reach a power of 50 or 115 kW, when powered by compatible terminals. The waiting time is reduced to 42 min to go from 10% to 80% with the optional power. We’ll get an idea of pricing near its expected launch in the second half of the year.
