Mercato: The terms of Wijnaldum’s loan to AS Roma soon to be renegotiated?

Victim of a fractured right tibia in training with AS Roma in August, Georginio Wijnaldum should return to the field in January. According to the Italian press, PSG and AS Roma might soon review the conditions of the initial agreement reached in August, in particular the purchase option attached to the loan.

Georginio Wijnaldum’s Roman adventure quickly turned into a nightmare. Welcomed with great fanfare, the Dutchman fractured his right tibia in training following only two weeks in his new colors. As a result of the races, the midfielder on loan with an option to buy from PSG is away from the field and should continue to be so for the next few months. According to the echoes of the Italian press, the captain of the Oranje should be back for the month of January, his absence from the World Cup with the Netherlands no longer being too much in doubt.

According to information from Calciomercato.it, PSG and AS Roma might soon meet once more to discuss the conditions of the initial agreement reached this summer with the half-season missed by Georginio Wijnaldum. The purchase option estimated between 8 and 10 million euros depending on the sources might in particular be revised downwards. Extending the loan for part of next season is not made possible given the player’s contractual situation with PSG – under contract until June 2024.

It will also depend greatly on the evolution of the Batavian’s recovery from injury and the diligence he might show in the second part of the season. The former Liverpool resident is still far from turning back the lawns and still has “a long way to go” as he confided on his networks recently.
