Mercato. Chelsea target French Under-21 international to bolster defense

In search of a new reinforcement in central defense, Chelsea is definitely eyeing French talents. After having tried to attract Jules Koundé, finally transferred by FC Sevilla to FC Barcelona for 50 million euros, Benjamin Pavard or even Presnel Kimpembe, the Blues would now have set their sights on an international Espoirs tricolor.

The World Cup in the balance

According to information from The teamWesley Fofana (Leicester) would be ardently courted by the 2021 European champion. An interest shared by the 21-year-old defender who would like to play in the Champions League next season to give himself the best chance of being called up by Didier Deschamps for the World Cup in November.

Still, the operation promises to be difficult as the Foxes do not seem inclined to let go of a player recruited for 35 million euros in the summer of 2020 and who only returned to the field last March following a fracture of the fibula which kept him away from the pitch for seven months. A transfer will therefore not be negotiated below 60 million euros.
