SEVERAL Chinese companies have expressed interest in investing in Indonesia. This was following they took part in the China Homelife international trade exhibition consisting of Building & Decoration Expo (BDExpo), Appliances & Electronic Show (AES), HomeLife Expo, and Decoration & Furniture Expo (DeFu), International Textile Expo (Intex) on 13-16 March 2024 at JI Expo Kemayoran Jakarta. The interest of investors from China is in the form of opening factories from China to Indonesia.
“In the four days of the exhibition, we received many requests regarding plans to move factories from China to Indonesia. For example, Chinese aluminum window and door companies. They have discussed with the Indonesian Building Materials Entrepreneurs Association (IPBBI) regarding their plans to develop local manufacturing factories. There are also companies plastic products who want to open a factory here,” said General Manager of Meorient Exhibition International, Larissa Zhou in a written statement, Sunday (17/3/2024).
The exhibition, which presents more than 400 manufacturers from China and locally, presents thousands of products such as building materials, furniture, electronics, household products and decorations. This exhibition also has a role in promoting good and sustainable bilateral trade and cooperation between China and Indonesia. You see, this year Meorient Exhibition International also opened an exhibition for local exhibitors.
“We brought exhibitors from China. Many of them were interested in importing from Indonesia. For this reason, we also held a business forum for those who wanted to sell products to China,” said Larissa.
According to Larissa, many exhibition visitors felt helped in obtaining new products, innovations and technologies at this exhibition. Not a few felt that this exhibition had a big impact in developing their business following coming to the exhibition.
Understandably, previously many business people in Indonesia did not have connections with manufacturers in China due to distance, time and cost issues. Therefore, this exhibition really helps business people to meet directly with producers or suppliers first hand.
The exhibition, which was visited by more than tens of thousands of people in the 4 days it was held, received special attention from the General Chair of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) Roy Nicholas Mandey. This exhibition, he continued, can help the Indonesian economy and become a venue for the exchange of information, technology and cooperation between business people. “This year we are actually starting to recover. This can be seen from our economic growth of above 5%, inflation maintained at 2.7%, and when we visit exhibitions like this we can see the great enthusiasm of the people,” said Roy.
This international trade exhibition will be held once more from 4 to 7 June 2024 at JIExpo Kemayoran. Larissa said that on the next occasion there would be more exhibitors, products and business forums held. (Z-2)
