Dr. Manen Abdel-Maqsoud, Secretary-General of Mental Health at the Ministry of Health, said that the danger of manufactured drugs is that they are unknown chemicals, including harmful substances such as poisons and insecticides, adding: “It is a really terrifying thing.”
She added, during a telephone interview with Dr. Muhammad Al-Baz on the “Akher Al-Nahar” program broadcast on the “Al-Nahar” satellite channel: “In order to treat a disease, I must present the substances that cause it, but the problem of synthetic drugs is that we do not know its composition, so we deal with the symptoms, their treatment is extremely difficult, and the patient He suffers from other strange things, which we have seen before.”
The Secretary-General of Mental Health at the Ministry of Health confirmed that the Ministry is working on paving the way for patients, providing the path of treatment, facilitating their presence in the hospital, providing beds in reasonable numbers, and approved programs, adding: “We try to encourage the recovering and let them help us treat patients, the most important step is to encourage the recovering.” And helping him to set up projects, and making the family welcome him once more.”
She pointed out that the treatment map for addiction is updated every 4 years, noting a research published in 2018 regarding the health map, showing addiction rates and rates in different governorates and age groups, and the health map with the number and locations of centers, and places with a deficit.
And she added: “We opened a hospital in Sohag, and soon we will open Damietta Hospital. Cairo is crowded, and there are many people with addiction, and treatment places are many, so we focus on places deprived of treatment services, and sprawling.”
