Within the framework of the Summit of Leaders for Education held on September 21, the Welbin Index 2022 was presented, which studies and analyzes school conditions for well-being in all institutions in Colombia.
This report is carried out by the Welbin organization and the Educational Economics Laboratory of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana thanks to the participation of 1,556 educational institutions from 31 departments of the country: 68% are official schools and 32% private.
After analyzing several categories related to school well-being, one of the findings of this research is that the main areas in which schools need more training are: mental health, conflict resolution and sexuality education.
A key fact found is that 77% of the participating schools consider that it is not adequately accompanying the physical, mental and social health needs of the students.
Other findings are: only 16% of schools have mechanisms to identify and refer mental health cases, 33% of schools provide psychosocial support, 32% of teachers are trained to address suicide prevention, and 19% of schools have mechanisms to identify and refer cases of school violence.
