Just a few weeks ago, rumors circulated that Cathy and her husband Mats Hummels had filed for divorce. They have not yet officially confirmed the speculation.

Cathy Hummels often emphasizes on Instagram that Ludwig is her one and only. The presenter and the four-year-old have a close mother-son relationship and spend a lot of time together. However, with her most recent posting, the 34-year-old has been criticized by her fans. The reason: The pictures show Cathy kissing her son on the mouth. “I’m officially taken. Best man in my life with dad,” she comments below.
Although the majority of their approximately 691,000 followers reacted with emotion, the combination of the photo series and Cathy’s comment did not go down well with some: “It’s slowly getting weird and no longer normal,” writes a user. Another adds: “Since the official separation from the husband, the child is now being marketed. Sad. Always looking for attention this woman.” A follower even called the pictures “strange”: “He’s the son and shouldn’t be used as a substitute for men.”
The 34-year-old also gets support for her mother-son snapshot. Many find the excitement regarding a kiss on the mouth totally exaggerated. “Kiss your boy when, where, and as often as you like, there’s nothing reprehensible or strange regarding it. Only the comments that claim this are strange,” reads one user. “Anyone who sees something other than motherly love for their son should maybe look for a psychologist!” comments another follower.
Separation?
After several months of speculation, Cathy and Mats Hummels are said to have actually separated in early July and even filed for divorce. Neither the moderator nor her husband has officially confirmed it. In an interview with “Bunte”, however, she explains: “I loved my husband very much and always wanted to take care of everything perfectly, but that didn’t go on like this.”
The couple met in 2007 and married in 2015. In mid-June, Cathy posted another family photo and commented: “The darn seventh year … In loving memory of 15.6.15” – the wedding anniversary of the two.
