Key composer of Paavo Järvi’s second season at the Tonhalle in Zurich, Mendelssohn is now the subject of a complete recording of the cycle of his symphonies, which follows the Tchaikovsky cycle.
“Mendelssohn is very close to my heart, and being able to concentrate fully on him and being able to record the five symphonies and A Midsummer Night’s dream is like a dream come true. A midsummer night’s dream come true, so to speak”confides the conductor at the end of the recording sessions, who adds:
“I find that we do not give Mendelssohn all the attention he deserves”.
