Members of the DPR and DPR for the 2024-2029 period must carry out legislative functions in accordance with the aspirations of the people

A total of 580 members of the People’s Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) and the Regional Representative Council (DPRd RI) for the 2024-2029 term of office will be inaugurated on Tuesday, October 1 2024.

General Secretary of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP), Prof. Abdul Mu’ti, explained that the elected members of the DPR and DPRD for the 2024-2029 period must be able to work professionally in accordance with the aspirations of the community and be able to carry out supervisory functions for the government for the next five years.

“The new members of the DPR and DPD are expected to be able to work better and learn from the experience of the previous period in carrying out legislative functions and control over state administration and to be more open to the aspirations of the people,” he said to Indonesian Media in Jakarta on Monday (30/9).

Prof. Mu’ti congratulated the election of the new council members. He hoped that this inauguration could bring the nation’s policy direction and constitution to a more advanced state.

“We congratulate the members of the DPR and DPD RI for the 2024-2029 term of office, hopefully they can carry out the mandate of the Constitution as well as possible,” he explained.

Furthermore, Prof. Abdul Mu’ti also expressed his gratitude to the members of the DPR and DPD for the previous period who had worked and completed various laws.

“Thank you to the members of the DPR and DPD RI for the 2019-2024 period who have tried to do their best for the nation and state,” he said. (D-2)
