Ihab El-Komy, a member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Football Association, confirmed that they did not discuss the resignation submitted by Wael Gomaa, the director of the Pharaohs team, and he personally wishes for its continuation. He also stressed that the Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz’s contract is extended until next December.
El-Koumi said in statements to Egyptian television in the early hours of Monday morning that there was a session that brought together Gamal Allam, head of the Football Association, with Carlos Queiroz, coach of the Pharaohs national team.
He added, “There is a majority within the Egyptian Football Association that wants Queiroz to continue to lead the Pharaohs, especially following his success in qualifying for the African Nations final that was recently held in Cameroon and his good performance once morest Senegal.”
He explained, “The contract of coach Carlos Queiroz is extended until next December, and there is a mutual desire to continue it.”
It is worth noting that Egypt lost the final of the African Nations Cup to Senegal on penalties, and failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar once morest the same team.
