At the convergence of science, nature and alternative medicine, Melwin Pagán emerged in 2021. By then, his ancestral wisdom had not only conquered Puerto Rico, but was also regarding to captivate Colombia with his book La Botica del Herbologist, Amazon’s bestseller. A manual that has played a crucial role in promoting phytotherapy and herbalism as natural approaches to prevent and manage various diseases globally.
A new voice in holistic medicine
The title of “bestseller” is not easy to achieve, especially in the digital age. In the publishing market, it is attributed to a book that has had notable commercial success, that is, it has sold a large number of copies in a relatively short period of time. Quite an achievement for those who debut with their first copy.
How did this passionate regarding alternative medicine achieve it? For Pagán, this achievement was born in the Andes, where he explored indigenous communities and cities in South America following completing his academic training as a biologist and biotechnologist. This trip not only allowed him to identify the needs of these communities, but also inspired him to specialize in herbology and phytotherapy. “Thanks to these communities, I have discovered opportunities for physical, spiritual and emotional healing. With more than seven years of existence, Melwin Herbologist, the company founded by Pagán, which seeks to improve people’s quality of life, offering personalized advice through mixtures of medicinal plants adapted to the needs of its clients, was also an element key to your decision as an author.
He then channeled his idea through Phytotherapy, or therapy with plant infusions, which thus becomes a natural alternative for those seeking a holistic approach to health. “Thanks to the exposure of the book, the company has grown, reaching almost all health food stores in Puerto Rico. As an expansion project, we plan to open a restaurant focused on desserts, teas and healthy food,” explains the businessman.
Despite his popularity as an author, businessman and with more than 89 thousand followers on Instagram, where he shares homemade infusions to detoxify the body and control metabolism, Melwin Pagán remains faithful to his roots and connection with nature. He declares: “I am a farmer and peasant committed to cultivating and disseminating knowledge of these ancient wonders.”
Colombia: seminar and international recognition
Currently visiting Colombia, Pagán shared his knowledge in the practical seminar “Cancer prevention and support” broadcast live from El Espectador on November 27. The visit will culminate with the presentation of the prestigious “PRIZE TO THE LEADER IN RESEARCH AND HEALTH SCIENCES FOR THE BENEFIT OF MANKIND 2022-2023” award by the International Society for Research, Health, Business Development and Technologies (SIISDET), scheduled for December 2 in Cartagena de Indias. Pagán expresses his excitement: “I am very excited, it is a very important award in the area of health that motivates me to continue working in research. But, above all, I am very grateful for so many beautiful things that have happened to me in Colombia.” The ceremony will be the highlight of the 15th edition of the Health Sciences Awards® at the IX International Congress of Pain and Regenerative Medicine.
It’s all good news for Melwin, the writer, businessman and researcher, who plans to publish a new book by 2024 under the Penguin Random House publishing label. In a scoop for El Espectador he says: “This new book is very interesting because it deals with a topic that is affecting many families in the world, which is cancer and how with a healthy lifestyle we can prevent it, but also manage it.” In addition, he will continue working on research focused on the study of various medicinal plants, applied to prostate tumor cells, in close relationship with the theme of his next book.
