New Delhi: Indian chess grandmaster R.S. Pragnananda lost to China’s Ding Liran. Ding Liron won the Chessable Masters title by defeating 16-year-old Pragnananda in a tiebreak in the final. It is noteworthy that Pragnananda took part in the competition within hours of writing the final examination of Class XI.

The Chinese player won the first set in a four-game long encounter. Lyron came back strong from the second set and beat Prague in the fourth set. Ding Liron, 29, said following the victory that the competition was tough and he was happy with the performance.

Pragnananda had earlier defeated world chess champion Magnus Carlsen twice in the season. Pragnananda’s achievement was in the Chessable Masters online tournament. The 16-year-old took advantage of Carlson’s foul move in the 40th move as the game drew to a close. Pragnananda had overthrown Carlson three months ago.
