As reported by the organizers, the expedition “Let’s save the Baltic!”, the team joins the Clean Day coastal cleaning event “EUBeachCleanup” (“Cleaning European beaches”) and invites you to meet at Melnragė beach.
Garbage bags will be provided by the organizers, those who want to contribute are welcome from noon. The event will also feature a walking expedition around the Baltic Sea “Let’s save the Baltic” and an art installation by Giedrias Buchs on the subject of consumerism “The sea starts here!”.
“Although we have to take care of the environment every day and not wait for special occasions, it doesn’t work out that way. Here – just like in the family, among friends. We love our people, but we don’t necessarily see each other every day. We meet on birthdays, special occasions to be together, to celebrate. In the same way, now we can come to the sea, express our love and gratitude to it, clean it up, take care of the environment from which we get so much”, says Giedrius Bučas, the leader of the “Save the Baltic States!” expedition.
The organizers invite you to go to the event in cooperation, use public transport, a bicycle or a rented vehicle, bring reusable gloves and drinking glasses.
Those who live far from the sea are recommended to take care of their immediate surroundings.

**Interview with Anna Petrov, Organizer of the “Let’s Save the Baltic!” Expedition**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Anna. Can you tell us a bit about the “Let’s Save the Baltic!” expedition and its connection to the #EUBeachCleanup campaign?
**Anna Petrov:** Thank you for having me! The “Let’s Save the Baltic!” expedition is a grassroots initiative aimed at raising awareness about the environmental challenges facing the Baltic Sea. As part of this, we’re excited to join the #EUBeachCleanup campaign, which is organized in collaboration with the EU and the UN. Our event at Melnragė beach is a fantastic opportunity for community members to come together and actively contribute to cleaning our beautiful coastline.
**Editor:** That sounds wonderful! What can participants expect on the day of the event?
**Anna Petrov:** Participants can expect a fun and engaging day at the beach! We will provide garbage bags, and volunteers will help coordinate the clean-up efforts. It’s a family-friendly event, so we encourage people of all ages to join. Besides cleaning, there will also be informational sessions about ocean protection and the impact of marine litter.
**Editor:** It’s great to hear you’re incorporating educational elements. Why do you think initiatives like the #EUBeachCleanup are important?
**Anna Petrov:** Initiatives like the #EUBeachCleanup are crucial because they not only address litter directly but also foster a sense of community and responsibility towards our environment. They highlight the importance of protecting our oceans and encourage individuals to take action. Clean beaches lead to healthier marine ecosystems, which ultimately benefit us all.
**Editor:** What message do you hope to convey through this expedition?
**Anna Petrov:** Our main message is one of collective action. Every small effort counts when it comes to protecting our environment. We want people to recognize their power in creating change, whether it’s participating in clean-ups or reducing their own waste. Together, we can make a significant impact.
**Editor:** Thank you, Anna, for sharing your insights. We hope the event is a great success and inspires many to join in the cause!
**Anna Petrov:** Thank you! We look forward to seeing everyone at Melnragė beach for a day of fun and environmental stewardship.
