Melanie Subono and PPK release a really tasty single – 2024-07-26 16:09:56

Melanie Subono and PPK (MI/HO)

MELANIE Subono comes with a new format. This time, she collaborates with experienced musicians as additional musicians and forms a band, Melanie and PPK, which enlivens Indonesian music with a unique format.

Don’t ask what PPK means because those who lead it don’t know. This band is equipped with the formation of Melanie (vocals), Hamid Alatas (keyboard), Andreas Ponda (saxophone), Javier Aswebert (guitar), Freed Gasa (bass), and Yudha Pratama (drums).

They all used to strengthen the position of additional musicians in other bands. But now they all have important roles in Melanie and PPK.

This is the first band to be taken by the SiMima studio production house, which is also known for Melanie and Hamid.

“This PPK was formed as a joke. In other bands they are just extras, but here we are all permanent players. At first we were just making content for YouTube but then we got serious,” said Melanie.

The first single they released was the recycled song Sedap Betul, which was a song created by Timur Priyono and popularized by Dapur 61 in 1984.

Although it can be said to be an old song, the lyrics of this song are still very relevant to today’s life. The new arrangement and Melanie and PPK’s touch make this song feel more different.

“Our different characteristic is creating something with a new packaging. Culture is one of the important points in our work. We bring regional songs with new musical compositions, for example rock or reggae, so that we can embrace the surrounding community,” explained Melanie.

After Sedap Betul, Melanie and PPK have prepared another self-composed song as their next single. Hopefully, this single can be a sweet introduction with Melanie and PPK.

Melanie and PPK’s version of Sedap Betul is now available on all digital music platforms. (Z-1)
