“Gagging mouths reminiscent of the KGB”: After publishing a viral thread on Twitter about the Shin Bet, Jewish Voice investigator Meir Ettinger received a threatening call from a Shin Bet man, who threatened: “I suggest you think again.”

Three days after he and another activist posted a viral thread on Twitter that dealt with the political views of the head of the Shin Bet and his one-sided warnings in the past two years, right-wing activist Meir Ettinger yesterday received a threatening call from the man in the Jewish department who called himself “Ural”.
Ettinger, who works as an investigator for the news site “The Jewish Voice”, was surprised to receive the call and tried repeatedly to understand who it was and what he wanted, but the Shin Bet officer only threatened that “you should think”, and warned “your activity endangers the security of the area”.
Ettinger gathered the materials for the viral publication over many days, and revealed together with the settlement activist Ariel Dino, in a long thread on Twitter, how consistently since the beginning of his tenure the head of the Shin Bet only warns against government policies such as worsening conditions for terrorists, and actions of the Jewish side such as going up to the Temple Mount, while that he stuck to his position advocating the strengthening of the Palestinian Authority and even stated shortly before the massacre that “Sinvar wants to calm down”.
“The Shin Bet’s conduct is an attempt to gag at a level reminiscent of the KGB’s conduct,” Ettinger attacked in response to the threat conversation. “After I worked for days on the publication that was about Ronen Barr and the political leftist policies he promotes, many people warned me that the Shin Bet would take revenge on me for this, but I thought then and I still think today that we do not have the privilege to remain silent. The Shin Bet is a body that operates in the dark and greatly influences the shaky security concept in general and Judea and Samaria in particular, and we paid a heavy price for that on October 7.”

“The concept of strengthening the Palestinian Authority and bringing Arab workers into Israel, as well as keeping the anti-Semitic policy on the Temple Mount at all costs, are things that the Shin Bet promoted and promotes – and strengthen the enemy in the most obvious way. They are an integral part of the dangerous concept, and stem from a left-wing policy that is promoted under a veil of secrecy and objective security considerations. It is our duty not to stand by and expose the failures of the system that endanger all of us, especially at this time when our enemies rise up against us, even if this will cause us to pay a personal price due to the vindictiveness of the Shin Bet personnel,” added Ettinger.
