At barely 11 years old, Meiker Montaño walked with 10 of his relatives for three months through the Darien jungle, carrying his oxygen tank on his back to breathe. only half of his heart works. According to Univisión, the whole family was able to reach the United States.

Meiker only has half of his heart working and has undergone several surgeries to alleviate his health. They came to the United States with the hope that the minor will get a new heart.
The family recounted for different international media that they crossed the jungle in five days. During the Darién route, they found other migrants who offered help.
Many helped him load his oxygen tank, even at times they ran out of food, but they managed to solve the problem.
