Simon Rex was offered a large fee for a fabricated story about a relationship with the Duchess of Sussex.
47-year-old American comedian Simon Rex became famous mainly thanks to the Scary Movie parody franchise and other films similar to it. It was only in 2021 that he earned the recognition of the film community after the release of the independent film “Red Rocket”.
The artist had difficult periods without money and work. And once he was offered a large sum for a mere trifle – to leak his relationship history with Meghan Markle, the actress who became the wife of British Prince Harry, to the media. Simon and Megan really knew each other, but they did not get to the romance.
In a new interview, Rex recalled how a British tabloid offered him $70,000 for a fabricated relationship story with Markle. The actor only had to compose how he once “picked up” a colleague.
“I was broke, damn it! I really needed money. But I would rather get food stamps than do something like that,” Simon shared with the publication. The Guardian.
He also said that Megan found out about his act and sent him a note thanking him. “It’s nice to know there are still good people out there,” the Duchess of Sussex wrote. Now a leaflet with this inscription is at Rex’s house in a frame.
In a past interview, the actor shared that there was nothing between him and Meghan Markle, they never even kissed. After meeting on one of the TV shows, they only had lunch together once, but it didn’t feel like a date at all.
