British Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, who had previously heard of his Nigerian origin, called him “her country” during her visit to Nigeria. In October 2022, Markle stated that, according to a DNA genealogy test, she is “43% Nigerian.”

According to the Daily Mail, the couple recently took a trip to Nigeria.

“First of all, I would like to thank you very much for the kindness with which you welcomed my husband and me to this country… my country,” – said the wife of the British prince, quoted by the newspaper.

According to the Duchess of Sussex, when she learned of her Nigerian roots, she first called her mother.

“I wanted to know if she knew” — Markle noted.

“Part of being African American is not knowing as much regarding your ancestry or origins, or where exactly you come from” – she added.

She called the opportunity to learn more regarding her roots “incredible.”

“This is only the beginning of this discovery” – emphasized Markle.

In 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the United Kingdom following a conflict with the royal family, abandoning their royal duties. In March 2021, the couple gave a scandalous interview Oprah Winfrey, in which she accused those close to her of indifference, constant pressure and even racism. Since then, the couple’s relations with the royal court have remained tense.
