Since Meghan Markle joined the royal family, relations between her and the Kensignston Palace staff quickly frayed.

In “Courtiers: the Hidden Power Behind the Crown”, Valentine Low recounts some of those moments, such as the organization of the wedding between Meghan Markle and the Prince Harry.

In an excerpt from the book published by the British newspaper The Times, of which Low is a collaborator, there is talk of the tension generated around the test of the tiara that Queen Elizabeth, just as she did with Kate Middletonlent Meghan.

“Planning the wedding was particularly stressful,” the excerpt reads. “There were discussions regarding the scheduling, the wedding announcements, the gospel choir and, most famously, the tiara.“. Harry and Meghan’s wedding took place on May 19, 2018, and in February Meghan, “accompanied by Harry, and under the watchful eye of Angela Kellythe queen’s dressmaker, who is also curator of the jewels, Meghan opted for Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara.”

Meghan wanted Serge Normant, her stylist, to have a chance to do hair tests with the tiara. Low recounted: “Unfortunately, the day her hairdresser, Serge Normant, was in town, Angela Kelly wasn’t available, so neither was the tiara.”.

It reads: “In Harry’s opinion, Kelly was obstructing. According to the book ‘Finding Freedom’, Kelly had ignored repeated requests from Kensington Palace to set a date for a hair test. And Harry was furious. “Nothing might convince Harry that some of the old guard in the palace simply didn’t like Meghan and would stop at nothing to make her life difficult,” the book’s authors wrote.

But there’s another version: that Harry and Meghan were naive at best to expect others to put themselves at their command when they hadn’t even bothered to make a date.

“Then Harry began calling others to pressure Kelly into breaking the rules and, in the course of his less than diplomatic efforts, he is said to have used rather flowery language. It’s unclear if Harry cursed her grandmother’s helper or her. But she wasn’t impressed. She reported all this to the queen, who summoned Harry to a private meeting. ‘They put him firmly in his place,’ a source said. ‘He had been downright rude.’”
