CHAIRMAN of the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri volunteered as friend of the court or friends of the court to the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the trial of the dispute over the results of the presidential election (PHPU). This was conveyed directly by PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Djarot Saiful Hidayat who handed over the power of attorney to the Constitutional Court on Tuesday (16/4) followingnoon.

“I came to submit the opinion of a friend of the court from an Indonesian citizen, namely Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri. So that Mrs. Mega, in her capacity as an Indonesian citizen, submitted herself as friend of the court or friends of the court,” said Hasto, Tuesday (16/4).

A friend of the court or friends of the court is a third party who is given permission to express his opinion. Megawati submitted a handwritten letter regarding her opinion to the Constitutional Court and hoped that the Constitutional Court’s decision would create justice for all parties.

“Dear Indonesian people, let us pray that the hammer of the Constitutional Court will not be a sledgehammer, but a golden hammer. As Mrs. Kartini said in 1911, ‘Out of darkness comes light’,” said Hasto when reading Megawati’s writing.

The letter was handed over directly by Hasto to the MK representative as part of the MK’s considerations regarding the PHPU Presidential Election. (Z-3)
