Megawati Considered Still Disappointed with Jokowi – 2024-07-10 17:43:43

FOR the first time since the presidential election, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Megawati Soekarno Putri mentioned the name of President Joko Widodo. Megawati mentioned the name and criticized Jokowi’s leadership which was considered inconsistent with what was inherited by the nation’s founders.

Political observer from Al-Azhar University Indonesia Ujang Komarudin assessed that Megawati’s re-mention of Jokowi’s name was a sign that the relationship between the two was increasingly fractured and increasingly heated. There were differences in views and visions and missions that made the two no longer able to unite.

“The point is that Megawati is still disappointed with Jokowi. Especially following the Supreme Court’s (MA) decision to approve Kaesang as a gubernatorial candidate. This is certainly a harsh criticism. Continuous criticism delivered by PDIP, including by Megawati following the last presidential election,” Ujang told Media Indonesia, Friday (5/7).

“That’s why the relationship between Jokowi and Megawati until today, this second, and even in the future will be long and difficult to unite. It’s difficult to meet once more,” added Ujang.

Ujang said Megawati’s disappointment with Jokowi was very deep. So it is quite difficult to predict whether the two national figures can sit down and reunite.

“This means, yes, the relationship between Jokowi and Megawati will not be good. It’s hot, they’re denying each other. I saw Megawati criticizing Jokowi because Jokowi is not considered part of PDIP and is no longer part of her. So she continues to be critical. All the shortcomings are revealed from Jokowi,” he concluded. (Z-8)
