Luncheon with 20 CEOs… Emphasis on “making Korea the world’s best innovation hub”
President Yoon Seok-yeol starts the two-day World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting schedule starting with a luncheon with CEOs of global companies on the 18th (local time).
The WEF Annual Meeting, also known as the ‘Davos Forum’, is a private international conference where major leaders, academics, and civil society leaders gather to discuss current international issues. The theme this time is ‘Cooperation in a Divided World’.
It is the first time in nine years that a Korean president has attended since former President Park Geun-hye in 2014.
President Yoon is scheduled to attend the ‘Lunch with the Global CEO’ held at a hotel in downtown Davos, Switzerland, on this day.
It is a venue to discuss solutions to various global issues such as supply chain stability, digital transformation, and climate change response, as well as desirable relationships between the private sector and the government, targeting major domestic and foreign entrepreneurs.
About 20 CEOs of global companies from home and abroad will attend, the President’s Office said.
On the Korean side, CEOs of Samsung Electronics, SK, Hyundai Motor, LG, Lotte, and Hanwha Solutions, and overseas, Intel, IBM, Qualcomm, JP Morgan, Mubadala, Blackstone, Bank of America (BoA), Vista Equity Partners, Hitachi, Shell, CEOs of 15 companies, including Air Liquide, Total, Nestle, TPG, and Lipo, will attend.
Minister of Economy and Finance Chu Kyung-ho, Minister of Industry Lee Chang-yang, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin, who are accompanying President Yoon on the tour, will also be present.
Through his opening remarks, President Yoon emphasized his will to make Korea a world-class innovation hub, while also expressing interest and support to global CEOs in collaborating with Korean companies, expanding investment in Korea, and attracting the ‘2030 Busan World Expo’. will be requested
In a special speech at the Davos Forum on the 19th, President Yoon plans to present a plan for international cooperation and solidarity to strengthen supply chains, transition to clean energy, and realize a digital order, and introduce Korea’s role.
