Meeting tourism moved more than US$ 20 million in the second quarter

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The National Tourism Secretariat, through its Meetings Tourism Directorate, released the statistical data for the second quarter of 2024, which highlights a movement of US$ 20,085,256 for the Paraguayan economy, through events and conventions held in the country.

The report states that, in the months of April, May and June 2024, 28 international events have been held in Paraguay, declared of National Tourist Interest. Among them is the summit of the Organization of American States, held from June 26 to 28, with the participation of more than 150 delegations.

In the second half of the year, 7,509 foreigners and 13,276 Paraguayans participated in international events.

In economic terms, according to data from Senatur, in the second quarter approximately US$ 10,632,744 were moved by visitors from other countries, while US$ 9,452,512 was the impact that the participation of Paraguayans in these international events had on the economy.

According to estimates, some 196,000 participants are expected to attend various events in Paraguay this year.

Among the most notable events are the 2024 Catholic Biennial, the Assembly of Jehovah’s Witnesses and the IV Latin American Special Olympics Games.
