Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firas
After the meeting, Al-Abyad stated: “The meeting with President Mikati dealt with the epidemiological situation in Lebanon, especially the Corona epidemic, and as the ministry said in the past, there is an increase in the number of infections, and this matter we usually witness in the summer season, and the Ministry of Health monitors cases in and outside hospitals, and currently the numbers indicate What we have is that there is an increase in cases, but the situation in hospitals is under control, and there are very few cases that need intensive care, and therefore we reiterate our emphasis on prevention, and we advise patients who suffer from comorbidities, and those who are most susceptible to infection, to take the vaccine to protect themselves. Those who have symptoms should avoid contact, and all those who have immunity problems should use personal protective equipment such as a mask and others.
The Ministry of Health will inform citizens of any new information on this matter.
He added: As for the second topic that we talked regarding, it is cancer drugs and incurable diseases, and I recall our previous meeting with the head of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Representative Bilal Abdullah, and the members of the committee with His Excellency Prime Minister Mikati, where it was confirmed that this matter is a red line, as the issue of support continues and funding is available, and this will be the focus of the meeting Between the Prime Minister and Acting Governor of the Banque du Liban, Wassim Mansouri, to continue the mechanism used to secure these medicines for the Lebanese people, and this matter, as I said, is a red line for the Lebanese government.
We also dealt with the issue of dialysis and securing supplies, because there is some shortage in it due to some difficulties that importers were facing. In this regard, a meeting will be held tomorrow in the Ministry of Health between the official guarantors, importers, and the Hospitals Syndicate to discuss solutions to this issue, and I confirm that the service provided to patients Dialysis will continue and any solution will not be at the expense of the patient, and there will be no differences on the patient.
He added: His Excellency the President briefed us on some new projects that will be opened in some government hospitals and are related to serving cancer patients, in addition to expanding some dialysis departments, and this helps patients and facilitates their movement so that they do not have to travel long distances to obtain services.
He believed that government hospitals play a major role with the most vulnerable classes to provide services to them and to lift the burdens and differences that private hospitals sometimes require from their shoulders.
In response to a question regarding the existence of interruptions in cancer drugs, he said: “This matter is always raised when there are issues related to financing, so we notice that there are some companies abroad that are slow in sending these medicines, and we have been able to solve this issue by setting up the mechanism, and a meeting will be held Next Friday with the Importers Syndicate to put the points on the letters, but the medicine is currently secured through the existing tracking platform, and the majority of the medicines are present, and the talk that is said that 40 percent of the medicines are not available is not true at all.
Parliamentary delegation
President Mikati received a delegation that included MPs Yassin Yassin and Bilal Al-Hashimi, and the head of the “Union of Arab Clans in Lebanon,” Sheikh Jassem Al-Askar.
MP Yassin announced following the meeting: “We visited Prime Minister Najib Mikati to follow up on the incident that took place in the western Bekaa with the Arab clans in the town of Qadiriya. To clarify,
What happened was a commercial dispute that exceeded the issues that should be overcome, and a kind of raids took place on the part of the military establishment, for which we have all the respect and appreciation. And we came to ask President Mikati for a transparent and fair investigation regarding this issue and its circumstances, and there are also martyrs who fell, whom we consider to be martyrs of the army, and we also want a transparent investigation by the state to set things straight.
In turn, Sheikh Al-Askar said: “The approach of the Arab clans is the approach of moderation, and we are among the most keen on the country, and we are seeking truth and not seeking revenge.
Islamic group
The prime minister received a delegation from the “Islamic Group” headed by the head of the political bureau in Lebanon, Ali Abu Yassin, in the presence of MP Imad Al-Hout.
After the meeting, Abu Yassin said: “We were honored today to meet with President Mikati as part of a tour we are making to all political and religious authorities at this time when there is a negative expectation of foreign initiatives, especially the French initiative. It is quite clear that the country is now suffering under an arc of crises and problems, and suffers from a vacuum.” Vacancies, disruption and economic collapse, and therefore dealing with the collapse begins with filling the vacancy, and the duty requires expediting the election of a president of the republic as soon as possible, to stop this collapse. Therefore, we hoped that his state would deal with these matters and launch a political dynamism to deal with these matters quickly.
He added, “The French envoy asks for the characteristics and tasks of the president, and these specifications and tasks are clearly defined in advance. The president required today is a president who fights corruption, unleashes the economic wheel, and is the president of all the Lebanese, and is able to lift the siege on Lebanon and lift its isolation. These are his specifications and the tasks he is required to perform.” And it does not need letters and exams in order to know these specifications.”
He said, “Our message to the team that obstructs legislation and implementation is that obstruction in crises ruins the country and leads to complete collapse, and today the country’s institutions are cracking and collapsing. We all heard the cry of the Minister of Education and the cry of the Minister of Health, and the words of the army commander regarding the crises and tragedy that exist in this country, so what is required is to stop All forms of obstruction, returning legislation to the House of Representatives, expediting the election of a President of the Republic and the government carrying out its duties, because it carries out the minimum level of conducting business.
He said: The conversation also touched on the issue of the law proposal that was presented in Parliament, which threatens the family, society, the individual and Lebanon as a whole, which is the proposal to abolish Law 534, which legitimizes immoral matters, and therefore we sensed the President’s national concern for his rejection of the issue and he will not follow his path to approval.
