A meeting was organized, this Wednesday in Rabat, around the theme “Moroccan-Saudi relations between yesterday and today”, the opportunity to highlight the richness and density of the links uniting the two Kingdoms and their contribution to meet the challenges facing the Muslim world in the current context.
The participants in the work of this two-day conference, organized by the “Archives of Morocco” institution in partnership with the King Abdelaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) in Riyadh, underlined that the two countries have played and are playing a pioneering role in meeting the challenges facing the Muslim world, in the context of the political and economic changes the world is experiencing.
The Director of the Archives of Morocco, Jamaâ Baida, underlined that this meeting, which constitutes an opportunity to reaffirm the depth of the fraternal and spiritual relations existing between the two countries, coincides with the first anniversary of the signing of the memorandum of cooperation between the Institution “Archives of Morocco” and the King Abdelaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah).
This cooperation includes the sharing of expertise in the field of preservation of archives and manuscripts, the exchange of digitized copies of historical sources of interest to both parties, the establishment of cultural and scientific activities on topics of common interest and the organization of a seminar and an exhibition on the exceptional relations between the two Kingdoms, which are two essential pillars of stability in the Muslim world.
For his part, Darah’s secretary general in Riyadh, Fahd ben Abdallah Samari, highlighted the distinguished fraternal relations between the leaders of the two countries, noting the importance of exploring the different facets of Moroccan-Saudi relations.
For his part, the President of Al-Akhawayn University, Amine Bensaid, stressed the importance that the two countries attach to higher education, noting that the creation of an Academy in Morocco consolidates the solid relations between the two Kingdoms and their common vision to create scientific spaces that contribute to the development of young people.
He recalled the initiative of the late Hassan II and the late Fahd Ibn Abdelaziz to create Al Akhawayn University, noting that the creation of the King Fahd Higher School of Translation in Tangier, which opened in 1983, plays an important role in the training of translators and the translation of books and scientific publications.
In the same context, the Deputy Director General of the Organization of the Islamic World for Education, Science and Culture, Abdelilah Benarafa, hailed the fraternal and exemplary relations existing between Morocco and Saudi Arabia, while congratulating the fruitful cooperation between “Archives of Morocco”, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and the King Abdelaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah).
Organized as part of the celebration of “Rabat, capital of the Islamic world”, this conference was marked by the presentation of presentations by a host of university researchers.
This event was marked by an exhibition bringing together a collection of photos, manuscripts and unpublished documents on the relations between the two Kingdoms at the “Archives of Morocco” gallery.
