The former president of Fedecamaras Ricardo Cusanno was one of the members of the Civic Forum who attended the meeting in Miraflores, this Tuesday, April 5.
The businessman highlighted that the atmosphere was “positive” and that the meeting was carried out in a respectful and friendly. However, he stated that he hopes results will materialize.
“The most relevant issues were humanitarian, human rights, they talked regarding those considered political prisoners, the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) and also regarding the opportunity that Venezuela has, unfortunately because of what is happening in Ukraine, to sell oil to the Western world,” he replied to Cocuyo effect.
New TSJ
Although the members of the civic forum press for the new TSJ to be “honorable” (they nominated 11 candidates), Cusanno made it clear that the platform that integrates different social actors does not seek “transactional spaces” in the highest court.
“We were not there (in Miraflores) looking for transactional spaces, we are concerned that the configuration of the TSJ responds to quotas of power, we hope that they name those who have the best credentials so that they can give the country credibility in the TSJ,” he said.
Cusanno pointed out that they expressed this concern at the table where the ruler was present. Nicholas Madurothe deputy and first lady Cilia Flores and the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez.
“We understand that the TSJ is the tip of the iceberg of the judicial reform and we request the best proceed On the part of the State, we cannot forget that in Venezuela the exercise of State figures is confused with partisan politics,” he said.
Recognition to Maduro
The recognition of Nicolás Maduro as president of Venezuela is criticized by the opposition sector that supports Juan Guaidowho is accepted by some countries as the head of a interim government.
On this, Cusanno stated: “The questioning that exists regarding the exercise of power in Venezuela is no secret to anyone, but the reality is that in the government palace those who are are the political actors with whom we met yesterday, we must be radically realistic to build solutions for the people”.
He stressed that at the meeting they also expressed the need to reactivate the negotiating table on Mexico where the great political agreements between the Maduro government and the representation of the Unitarian Platform should be produced.
“There is no doubt that the actors present at the meeting have the objective of building a Venezuela of full political freedoms where there is full independence of powers. Now, what seems very unlikely is that it happens overnight, you have to build trust, ”he asserted.
Solutions
Although the meeting was positive, according to Cusanno, the businessman hopes that they will produce real and concrete solutions: «There was a willingness to listen and build solutions together. Let’s hope that happens.”
“Upon arrival, they gave us a log with all the opportunities, which according to the government actors, have been generated for dialogue. We told them that it was ok, but that we hope that in this new opportunity there will be conclusions and solutions, you cannot just continue making political calculations. In this sense, a next meeting was proposed to deepen the issues and begin to build proposals. ”, he expressed.
