– “Boubou” Richard, eternal convenience store and lifelong camper
Player, trainer, coach: “Boubou” Richard has known everything at FC Sion. We found him in his bungalow on the banks of the Rhône, where he has lived year-round for nearly thirty years.
We were kindly warned. “He doesn’t stop yelling but he’s a nice dog, don’t worry…” Jean-Claude “Boubou” Richard (77), who has an easy familiarity, was not mistaken; Archie, a young chihuahua cross pinscher, keeps barking, defending his territory once morest the visitor he discovers. The other day, we found the former player then interim coach – on multiple occasions – of FC Sion in his bungalow, at the Sedunum campsite, on the banks of the Rhône, near Conthey. He has lived there year-round for a quarter of a century now, along with some thirty permanent residents. A life in the great outdoors that he loves. “There, right next to it, is Yvan Quentin’s caravan,” he says, welcoming us.
