Yacine’s Peugeot 406 is quite special. Not for its body, but for its sturdiness. Indeed, the blue sedan is regarding to cross the 600,000 km mark. A feat all the more remarkable as the main original parts have not been changed.
The story begins, for Yacine, in August 2015. “I am looking for a vehicle, more precisely a Peugeot 406 because I knew the reliability of this car” he explains. The young man comes across a deal: a blue sedan that he gets for 1,500 euros.
Although the car has already driven well in the past, nearly 258,000 km, Yacine is confident. And he was right: almost eight years later, his car is regarding to exceed 600,000 km on the clock.

A rare fact that he himself finds it difficult to explain. “I don’t necessarily have the habit of maintaining the car. I know that at least two or three times a month, I take it on the motorway so as not to clog up the engine. I don’t drag the breakdowns: as soon as there is one, it goes to the garage. Everything is done on time,” explains the 27-year-old young man.
“It’s a pleasure to drive”
Because for Yacine, driving is above all a pleasure. “I even made it my job: 9 months ago, I became a driver!” A passion for driving that he cannot explain. “I learned everything when I got the license, the first time, he says. It all started from there”.
The starting point of a whole new adventure for the young man: from north to south, from Cherbourg-en-Cotentin where he is from, to Marseille, his Peugeot has never let him down. “Apart from a few parts and some sensors to be changed, everything is original, whether it’s the engine, the gearbox, the injectors or the turbo,” he adds. A car for “leisure and work” as he explains, which Yacine uses on average 60 km per day.
And when asked if he plans to change car one day, Yacine doesn’t know what to answer: “In all honesty, I won’t know what to do. If it’s recoverable, we change. I still think more and more more to buy a second newer car in case it starts to tire. But I will surely buy the same model”.
