Lorenzo Hernández recognized the personality differences he has with the veteran Santander businessman who is a national reference.

Mario Hernández, who adjusts plans with his business in another country, has the support of his three children in the midst of each of the decisions he makes to push his company further and further.

Mario and María Fernanda, businessman and industrial engineer respectively, are part of his first marriage, while Lorenzo was the product of love with his deceased wife Olga Lucía Hernández.

“My children are from two marriages. My success is that the two ladies greeted each other and my three children are as if they were from the same mother,” Mario Hernández highlighted in conversation with Pulzo, exalting the unity that exists in his family around the company.

What does Mario Hernández’s youngest son do?

The youngest son of the octogenarian from Santander and the woman who died in March 2022 is 29 years old and, following studying Graphic Design at the University of the Arts in London, he is now in his father’s company as creative director of the brand.

Lorenzo is with his brothers on the Board of Directors, where decisions are made by consensus within the company that made a radical determination in Colombia. In the midst of the work relationship with his parent, the youngest Hernández spoke regarding the businessman.

“One of the greatest lessons that my mother left me, she died a year ago, was to always seek to be my father’s complement and not a competition, competing is the big mistake that heirs often make,” he said in The Colombian.

The truth is that Hernández’s son recognized the differences that exist with his father, a product of the different training that each one had: while his father had difficulties in his childhood and challenges in setting up his business, he lived with privileges in a life between Florida, Bogotá and London.

Lorenzo explained that while his way of being is more disruptive and creative, the 82-year-old Santander has a much more traditional approach as a businessman.

Likewise, Mario Hernández told Pulzo that his youngest son “feels the product,” which is why he projects him as a leader within the organization, while highlighting the respect that exists between them.

“It’s an example. I wish all families were the same,” said the man from Santander, who added: “We do everything coordinated to build the Colombian brand.”

Why did Mario Hernández remove the unicorn as a logo?

In the midst of these coordination processes with his father, Lorenzo Hernández, the businessman’s youngest son, is proud of having convinced him to change the image that was iconic for a long time.

“In a good way, he says that he has won a couple of creative battles with his dad: something that he blames him every day is that the unicorn disappeared because of him. And one of Lorenzo’s greatest contributions to the company was the renewal of the brand. It was because of him that since 2020 the popular unicorn no longer exists and it was replaced by a monogram: a letter M that gives a fresher and more modern look to the pieces,” El Colombiano indicated regarding this situation.

Although his youngest son has considered what he expects the tone to be within the company that bears his father’s name, Mario Hernández himself acknowledged that unity always prevails in this process.

“There is no discussion of any kind,” said the man from Santander in conversation with Pulzo, highlighting the good progress of his son Lorenzo, who has drive in his blood like any good Hernández.
