It’s been a year and a half since a resident of Antibes in the Alpes-Maritimes disguised himself as Spider-Man to visit hospitals and distribute a little joy to patients. In the streets, he never goes unnoticed and always arouses the enthusiasm of passers-by. His mission is then accomplished!

Born at Grasse and living at Antibes for 7 years, at 36, Jérémy Réty has chosen to wear the Spider-Man costume regularly so as not to forget his child’s soul. His disguise, he mainly wears at the bedside of sick children in Nice, Archet hospital or at the Fondation Lenval.

A bit like his favorite superhero, Jérémy Réta is a multi-faceted man. Like the hero of the famous comic strip, Peter Parkerthis Grassois works.

He is not a photographer but a sports coach. Despite a fairly busy schedule, he always tries to find time to visit hospitals in the region alongside patients and patients. “blouses roses”. Ces kind-hearted volunteers who try to brighten the lives of hospitalized children and adults.

Once upon a time…

It all started with the theatrical release of “The Amazing Spider-Man” in 2012. Jérémy decides to go to the preview in Cagnes-sur-Mer disguised as Spider-Man and it is precisely at this moment that he realizes the enthusiasm he can cause.

Spider-Man is universal, it speaks to everyone. When I saw the way people welcomed me in this movie theater, I realized that I might bring happiness on my scale.

Jérémy Réty can’t bring himself to give up his costume and chooses to continue wearing it to go to hospitals in an attempt to make patients smile.

But the spider man also sometimes parades in the streets of Antibes, especially on the ramparts or even entertains during birthday parties. It was also disguised as Spider-Man that he went to his sister’s wedding in 2022.

They tell me that I have to settle down, that I become more reasonable, more down to earth and above all that I am too old for disguises. But in my family, everyone dresses up! It’s my mother who helps me make my costumes.

Between his appearances in town, his volunteer work in hospitals, his sports coach sessions, the Spider-Man from Antibes would like to find the time to create an association that would help the most disadvantaged.

Because as it says in the comics and in all the films dedicated to this superhero, with great powers come great responsibilities.
