Medvedev: Mark Rutte is “Atlanticist and known for his hostility to Russia” and this is the reason for appointing him as Stoltenberg’s successor

Medvedev added in an interview with the website “Argumenty i Fakty” that he put Rutte in this position as a natural order from the West, as he is an official who lacks independence and was appointed as a “supporter of NATO and known for his hostility to Russia.”

“I know Mark Rutte, he is a typical representative of the multi-coloured Netherlands, the rainbow Netherlands, and there is no need to overstate this description. The country of origin of the NATO Secretary General is of no importance to Russia. He is an official who lacks independence by nature, a multi-coloured parrot who talks a lot and repeats in an obedient voice what the barn keeper in Washington orders him to do,” he added.

According to him, Mark Rutte is just an ordinary European bureaucrat who deliberately emphasizes his strong friendship with Bandera supporters in Kiev.

“Rutte was appointed the new NATO Secretary General as a pro-Russian and well-known person, which is why he is acting as he is required to, starting with issuing aggressive and ill-considered statements in line with the general political line of the alliance, which Hungary and Slovakia do not blindly adhere to, but are partly focused on preserving nation states,” Medvedev concluded.

NATO has previously appointed outgoing Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte as the new Secretary General of the alliance, succeeding Jens Stoltenberg.

Rutte will take up his duties as NATO Secretary General on October 1, when Jens Stoltenberg’s term ends.
