Gränichen AG: Medusa likes to roam around the train station – with fatal consequences
Sandra Huggenberger is the mistress of the Persian cat Medusa. Her animal has already been stolen three times.
“Medusa is probably the most famous cat in Wynental,” says her owner Sandra Huggenberger to Tele M1. Day in, day out, the white Persian cat sits in its place at the train station in Gränichen, watching what is happening – and has been for years. Everyone in the village would know this cat – Medusa, the station diva and stationmaster.
Kidnappers take a cat to Aarau
It was right there, at their usual place, where the animal was first kidnapped last summer. This is shown by images from the surveillance camera at Gränichen station. Huggenberger remembers: “We saw how five gentlemen took our cat on the train.” Medusa then drove to Aarau with her kidnappers, which other pictures show. The cat was later found in Hägglingen. She came home unharmed.
A short time later, however, Medusa’s mistress had to worry regarding her pet once more – she was kidnapped once more. This time from a mother who wanted to make her children happy with the cat. The woman took Medusa to Teufenthal. However, the Persian cat did not stay there for long. “The woman felt guilty and brought Medusa back to the Gränichen train station,” explains Huggenberger.
Rescue thanks to GPS tracker
After the two kidnappings, Huggenberger decided to equip her cat with a GPS tracker. It is also thanks to this that Medusa might be found once more following her third kidnapping. The thief did not want to give the animal back at first, but then gave in. He said to Tele M1: “I didn’t know that the cat belonged to anyone.”
For Medusa’s safety, a sign will soon be put up at Gränichen station, which should make it clear: Station manager Medusa belongs here.
