Dubai, October 31 / WAM / From February 5 to 8, Dubai will host the “Medlab Middle East 2024” conference and exhibition – the largest exhibition for medical laboratories in the region – with the participation of an elite group of senior researchers and specialist doctors from the region and the world.

The event is expected to witness the attendance of more than 30,000 visitors and 900 exhibitors from 180 countries around the world. Its scientific program this year includes 12 main themes on laboratory management, hematology, quality management, clinical microbiology, pathological anatomy, clinical chemistry, clinical genome interpretation, the future of the laboratory, immunology and medicine. Blood transfusion and in vitro sustainability.

The conference – which is held at the Dubai World Trade Center – is held in cooperation with ExpressMed Diagnostics and Research Company and provides education and solutions to enhance laboratory skills for more than 5,000 participants from around the world.

The event will witness the organization of a specialized conference on next generation medicine, an evolving field of healthcare that uses genome sequencing to create targeted healthcare strategies for specific populations and individuals across a range of rare diseases and conditions.

Dr. Carolina Cobos, head of the Genomics and Precision Medicine Laboratory and technology and innovation advisor at ExpressMed Diagnostics and Research, said: “In recent years, the emergence of next-generation sequencing technologies, proteins, and artificial intelligence has allowed research centers around the world to start scientific programs, discover new molecular pathways, and develop personalized treatments. There is Three key components of next-generation medicine include prevention, early detection, and the development of targeted therapies. “So the future of medicine is regarding moving away from a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to more personalized health strategies to improve health outcomes and reduce costs associated with ineffective treatments.”

She added, “Global differences in the prevalence and distribution of diseases and their risk factors are a complex phenomenon determined by population history, adaptive evolution, and environmental, social, demographic, cultural, and genetic factors, as genomic inheritance is unique to each population group. This means that disease patterns may differ in a Caucasian individual compared to those who are Caucasian.” They live in the Middle East, for example.”

For his part, Tom Coleman, Director of the Medlab – Informa Markets Healthcare Exhibition in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, explained that genomics projects in the Middle East have the potential to contribute significantly to global science and improve healthcare in the region, as this field of study is very promising and can The results lead to significant advances in the treatment of various diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

He pointed out that Medlab’s partnership with ExpressMed Diagnostics and Research during the Medlab Middle East 2024 exhibition will focus on the latest developments in medical technology, precision diagnosis, and medical laboratory solutions, as the Next Generation Medicines Conference, chaired by Dr. Carolina Cobos, will bring together an elite group of the most prominent industry experts. And researchers and healthcare professionals who are driving innovations forward, pointing out that this conference will highlight the latest updates on regional genomics projects and a number of important and pressing topics such as early cancer detection, precision oncology, preventive health screening and longevity.

The “NextGen” area at Medlab Middle East is an ideal and unique platform that brings together an elite group of the most prominent experts and professionals to discuss the latest developments in next generation medicine and attract laboratory technicians, geneticists, oncologists, pathologists, surgeons and representatives of pharmaceutical companies who will participate in fruitful discussion sessions. About the recent developments in this field, which paves the way for progress and development in next generation medicine.

It is noteworthy that last March, the UAE launched a ten-year national genomic strategy to support the development and implementation of genomic research projects and improve public health priorities in the UAE. This project aims to accelerate developments in personalized medicine and combat chronic and hereditary diseases, while the Emirati Genome Program is the founding project for the strategy. The UAE National Genome aims to explore the genetic profile of Emiratis using the latest DNA sequencing and artificial intelligence.
