Tourists flock there with such ardor that tickets have to be taken out several months in advance to visit the high places of Muslim Spain in Seville, Cordoba or Toledo. Medieval Andalusia embodies for many a space of tolerance and dialogue between the three religions – Jewish, Christian, Muslim – which then share the Mediterranean space. An idyllic image which would represent, for others, only the dream of a few naive intellectuals. In Spain as elsewhere, Islam would above all have shown the face of jihad and religious fanaticism.
