Medicobus Project: Improving Access to Healthcare in Underserved Communities

2023-12-18 21:01:57

the project’s objectives

  • Provide a general medicine response (as a priority) within a reasonable time to populations without a treating doctor, as a priority for people in ALD without a treating doctor, isolated elderly people, etc. in addition to all other organizational solutions in the territory (recourse to a other healthcare professional – cooperation protocols, teleconsultation, etc.); response in terms of care and not first-line prevention.
    The mobile bus is not a mobile unscheduled care unit but it can also be called upon by the SAS as necessary. Particular attention must be paid to the existing organization of unscheduled care (NPS), which should not be destabilized.
    Patient access to the medicobus service is done in conjunction, without substituting, with all the solutions in the region: teleconsultation, sessions set up in the region, etc.
  • Engage in collective reflection to anchor a healthcare offering locally. The medicobus project is also an opportunity to bring about the creation of a CPTS in territories which do not yet have one;
  • Be careful not to compromise or seek to replace initiatives already taken by communities, and sometimes already supported by the State.

As part of this call for projects, the ARS encourages project submissions by CPTS, Multiprofessional Health Homes, Health Centers, and Health Establishments.

For a complete understanding of the project requirements and objectives, consult the downloadable specifications below.

Who can respond to the call for projects?

As a priority, it is the CPTS of the department – which can also be formed into inter CPTS – which define the route and the arrangements for coordinating the bus. They carry the coordination cell of the system (including call orientation).

The bus can be carried by a health center, a nursing home or even a health establishment, in the event that the territory does not have a CPTS sufficiently robust to carry such a device.
