Medicine and Nursing Students from UNS Survey Storm-Affected Neighborhoods in Bahía Blanca

Students from the Medicine and Nursing programs of the National University of the South (UNS) of the Buenos Aires district of Bahía Blanca will carry out a survey of the neighborhoods affected after the storm, together with Health Region I and the municipality, official sources reported.
These are 40 advanced students of Medicine and Nursing from the UNS who, together with personnel from the municipality and Health Region I, carry out surveys in different parts of Bahía Blanca.
“These are activities to find out the status of the inhabitants, especially in the most peripheral sectors that still do not have basic services and have also suffered more violently the effects of the storm,” the UNS said in a statement. .
In that context, from the high house of studies it was indicated: “The students, members of the community health area and the Health Region, toured Tierras Argentinas, Villa Caracol and Portal del Este.”
“In addition, in the coming days, more students from the Department of Health Sciences will join in accompaniment in community mental health and support in evacuation centers,” added UNS.
According to the sources, also in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, the students of said Academic Unit “participated in telephone support, containment and reception of requests from affected or isolated activities.”
For its part, the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health, within the framework of a health operation in the city, ordered the sending of personnel, a mobile hospital, five ambulances and supplies.
A mobile hospital was available and, from the Integrated Health Emergency System (SIES) of the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health, two high complexity ambulances and three medium complexity ambulances were sent.
Also, a logistics and disaster unit was set up with three tents that function as advanced medical posts and a 4 x 4 mobile, the health agency indicated. (Telam)
