Medical warning for sleep addicts.. Sleep disturbance threatens serious illness

If you go to bed at different times during the week, or wake up several times in one night, this might lead to serious heart disease.

A recent study conducted by the American Heart Association revealed that people who suffer from sleep disorders are more likely to develop serious heart disease.

The study included a sample of 2032 adults whose sleep duration was measured, as well as the timing of their sleep and wake-up.

The experiment was conducted for seven days by measuring the quality of sleep among the participants through smart watches on the wrist, to record detailed data regarding movement and oxygen level during naps.

The results showed that people who slept restlessly and did not spend their nights quietly showed signs of a type of atherosclerosis.

When this disease affects the human body, the artery wall becomes tainted by a number of deformities that affect the performance of its functions.

The study indicated that people’s attention to the quality of their sleep during the night, would help prevent atherosclerosis.

“Sleep irregularity, particularly with regard to sleep duration, was associated with several measures of arterial stiffness,” the study authors wrote.

They added: “Sleep regularity may be a modifiable target for reducing the risk of atherosclerosis.”

The study was conducted by researchers at Vanderbert University in the US state of Tennessee and Harvard Medical School, along with scientists from other research institutions.

The authors of the study said that their experience differs from previous ones, because it included a wide sample of different races in the United States.
