Medical students launch psychological support cell to confront “inferiority” caused by government policies

Medical students and the Pharmacy Students Council announced the establishment of a listening cell comprising experienced doctors and psychologists, with the aim of “assessing the psychological and mental damage and feelings of inferiority caused by the policies of the responsible authorities.”

In a new statement, the Medical Students Office and the Pharmacy Students Council in Rabat denounced “attempts to influence students by promoting false boycott results that are far removed from reality, as well as adopting all possible methods to undermine student unity,” considering that this approach “will only lead to greater harm and more recklessness.”

The students stressed that what they called the “political war” would inevitably harm the quality of medical and pharmaceutical education, noting that they were still “adhering to the mechanism of serious dialogue crowned by a memorandum of agreement in order to reach responsible and realistic solutions that rise to the level of the aspirations of today’s students and guarantee their legitimate rights.”

The students pointed out that the successful boycott of theoretical and practical lessons, hospital training and fall semester exams is “a clear and resounding cry from the students of the faculties of medicine and pharmacy,” announcing “their adherence to the right to exercise all appropriate peaceful escalation steps unless these unjust and arbitrary decisions once morest the representatives are reversed, and a serious dialogue is established that leads to effective solutions recorded in the minutes of the agreement in order to resolve the crisis of medical and pharmaceutical training.”

The medical and pharmacy students renewed their “complete openness to all means of dialogue and serious mediation in order to find realistic solutions and save what remains of the academic year,” stressing in return that “the boycott will continue until the demands are met, in response to the decision of the student groups and based on the outcomes of the boycott of the first and second exams and the preliminary voting results.”
