Representatives of medical students expressed their rejection of the latest offer presented by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, last week, in a new development that indicates that the crisis in the faculties of medicine, pharmacy and dentistry is moving towards greater complexity.
According to what was reported by informed sources, representatives of the students of the Medical Division of the National Committee for Medicine and Pharmacy informed Mohamed Benalilou, the Kingdom’s mediator, of the rejection of the aforementioned offer. They also informed him of the direction of Doctors of Tomorrow to boycott university admission.
The same sources confirmed that the government offer was rejected by up to 81.4 percent of the students, claiming that it was “insufficient and does not answer their aspirations regarding the outstanding points, in addition to the fact that it witnessed many declines regarding points that were previously agreed upon.”
The same sources pointed out that the students will boycott the new university admission that the Ministry has designated for their benefit on October 14, stressing that “86.9 percent of the students expressed their support for continuing their struggle, in light of the continued lack of response to the aforementioned outstanding points.”
This comes at a time when the students sent a letter to the Kingdom’s mediator, demanding “an extension of the period of mediation set by the Ministry,” stressing that the latter “is trying to speed up the arrival of the white year, especially after programming a new round of exams amid the mediation with the mediator institution.”
The same students affirmed that they “value the institution’s position and cling to it as a serious and responsible mediation that will push a file that has been largely marginalized to see the light,” warning in return “against any interference that aims to undermine joint efforts and return to point zero by any party.”
