A medical student at the University of
Antioch
was recognized as the
best intern in Colombia in a contest held by medical schools around
the country.
José Roberto Uribe Delgado, student in the last semester of Medicine at the
University of Antioquia, received the Best Intern Award in the country following occupying the
first place in the competition organized by Ascofame, the Association of Association
Colombian School of Medicine.
José Roberto competed once morest 864 other inmates and, following going through several filters that
took into account, as the performance during the race, was in the group of 60
finalists. Although before the last tests were done in person at a
simulated hospital, this time it was on a platform with clinical cases and available in
English.
“You do as a clinical exercise evaluating like three patients. This exam lasted three hours, it ended up going well for me. It was in English, in that language we had to do practically the entire exercise and it was a bit challenging,” he said.

For José Roberto, this first place is a recognition of his effort, that of his
family, of which he would be the first doctorand the support given by the university
public.
“I showed that public universities and the University of Antioquia offer a high quality education, which is willing to change the lives of many people that many times we don’t have a way to access another type of education that is not public,” he said.
This student, who is currently undergoing a rotation in a hospital in the United States, hopes to arrive in Colombia in the first week of June to receive the award and then return to another international hospital in order to complete their graduation requirements and take on another challenge such as specialization.
