Hermosillo, Sonora.- For their dedication, effort and dedication, the Ministry of Health (SSA) awarded doctors with the 2021 Health Research Award.
The first place went to Alejandro Arturo Castro Juárez, with the Dr. José Miró Abella Award – Environmental Health and Educational Research, with the work “Effectiveness of a lifestyle change program on insulin resistance in Yaqui Indians of Sonora ”.

The second place was given to Diana Laura Ramírez Rivera, with the research work “Online lifestyle change intervention during the Covid-19 pandemic on the BMI Z score (Body Mass Index) in Mexican schoolchildren: pilot randomized controlled trial.
On behalf of the Secretary of Health, José Luis Alomía Zegarra, Dr. Jorge Laureano Eugenio, director of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, stressed that an investigation is not only to be published, but to make decisions, which is why he celebrated people winners and invited them to continue doing research and generate results that benefit all communities.
“I recognize the young people who are recognized with their work. Go ahead. We must make extraordinary things out of the ordinary of our practice and I believe that this research award must go further, so that the results not only remain in a journal, but actually translate into a transformation. I highlight the state of Sonora as one of the few that has continuity in this type of events in terms of research, ”he stressed.

For her part, Eva Moncada García, director of Education and Quality of the SSA, said that young people are the creators of new knowledge, researchers who will gradually grow and generate new information on public health. For this reason, she celebrated that these awards continue to be given in Sonora, because, in addition to raising the name of the state, they are a watershed for the investigation to continue.
In addition to the awards ceremony, the 29th Health Research Meeting “Priorities in health, prevention of risk behaviors” was held, which aims to encourage interaction between researchers and students, as well as disseminate their progress and promote the application of the results of such research in health services and social development.
It should be noted that this meeting will continue on October 27 and 28 and will be broadcast on the Facebook page of the Technological Institute of Sonora (Itson).
